What's Happening?
The Oregon Department of Emergency Management is conducting a series of free webinars aimed at enhancing disaster preparedness in rural communities. The two-part series, titled 'Rural Communities Prepared for Disasters,' will cover topics such as communication
during disasters, evacuation procedures, and recovery processes. The first session, scheduled for April 22, will focus on preparedness and response, while the second session on May 13 will address recovery and long-term support. These webinars are designed to equip rural residents with the knowledge and resources needed to effectively respond to disasters like floods, wildfires, and extreme heat.
Why It's Important?
These webinars are crucial for rural communities in Oregon, which often face unique challenges in disaster preparedness and response due to limited resources and infrastructure. By providing tailored information and strategies, the Oregon Department of Emergency Management aims to strengthen the resilience of these communities. Improved preparedness can lead to quicker recovery times, reduced economic losses, and enhanced safety for residents. The initiative also highlights the importance of proactive planning and community involvement in disaster management.
