What's Happening?
The Tampa Sports Authority is moving forward with the design phase of an indoor sports facility at the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) site in Tampa. The Board of County Commissioners approved an interlocal
agreement and a budget amendment, allocating over $3 million to the project. This funding includes $2 million from BP settlement money and additional funds from the county’s tourist development tax. The project is part of a $70 million redevelopment of the 73-acre MOSI site, with 67 acres currently undeveloped. OSPORTS has been selected to design the facility, which will feature 11 all-purpose courts for volleyball and basketball, along with amenities such as an entertainment park, sports lounge, and event space. The facility is expected to open in 2028.
