What's Happening?
Ofwat has initiated the next phase of the Water Discovery Challenge, opening applications on January 19, 2026, with a closing date of April 8. This initiative aims to attract innovators from various sectors
such as agriculture, digital technology, and energy to develop solutions for the water industry's environmental challenges. These challenges include adapting infrastructure to climate change, reducing leaks and pollution, and achieving net-zero targets. The challenge will provide up to £100,000 in seed funding to 20 successful applicants, along with mentorship and non-financial support. In June, ten of these teams will be selected to receive additional funding of up to £550,000 to further develop their solutions, with announcements expected in spring 2027.
