Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA), one of the largest legal aid nonprofits in the state, has reopened its San Antonio office for in-person services. The new office, located in Northwest San Antonio on Console Road, near the intersection of Wurzbach Road and U.S.
Interstate 10, began operations on Thursday. This move marks a return to physical presence after the organization primarily offered free legal services virtually or offsite due to the COVID-19 pandemic and issues with its previous office space. Executive Director Robert Doggett emphasized the importance of in-person interactions for building client relationships. TRLA covers 68 counties, from El Paso to Corpus Christi, and served over 15,000 clients last year, with Bexar County being its busiest location. The nonprofit provides civil legal aid, including family law, foreclosure, and eviction practices, for low-income residents, using state and federal funding.

The new TRLA office will operate Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. While in-person services are now available, virtual connections via phone and email will continue to be offered, providing clients with multiple avenues to seek help. Julia Raney Rodriguez, TRLA’s director of client services, noted that clients appreciate having various options for contact. The organization will continue to prioritize cases based on community needs, with family law, domestic violence protections, and evictions being the most in-demand types of cases. The re-establishment of a physical presence is expected to enhance the organization's ability to serve its extensive client base more effectively, particularly in Bexar County, which is its busiest location. TRLA hopes that the community will become aware of the new office location and utilize the in-person services when civil legal aid is required.
