Joe E. Chandler in 1952, and together they raised three children. The family moved to Chicago in 1964, where Mary pursued higher education, earning degrees from Oakton Community College, Northeastern Illinois University, and the Jane Addams College of Social Work. Mary was actively involved in the First United Methodist Church of Park Ridge, serving in leadership roles within the United Methodist Women. Known for her culinary skills, particularly her pecan-based treats, Mary leaves behind a legacy of love and community service.
