What's Happening?
The Indiana Pacers have waived Samson Johnson, a two-time college basketball national champion from UCONN. Johnson signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Pacers on September 23 but was released after playing in the Summer League. Despite going undrafted in 2025, Johnson has the opportunity to remain within the Pacers' system through their G League affiliate, the Noblesville Bloom.
Why It's Important?
Waiving Samson Johnson allows the Pacers to manage their roster while keeping Johnson within their development system. This move provides Johnson with a chance to continue his professional basketball career and potentially earn a bonus if he stays with the G League affiliate. It highlights the strategic decisions teams make to balance player development and roster management.
