Taiwan is collaborating with U.S. defense startup Vatn Systems to develop autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs), specifically the Skelmir S12 drone, to enhance its maritime surveillance and defense capabilities. This partnership, formalized through a memorandum
of understanding between Vatn and Taiwan's government-funded National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST), aims to integrate Vatn's undersea autonomy technology with Taiwan's research and industrial capacities.
