What's Happening?
Exmar has commenced conversion work on a new floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) to aid the expansion of the EemsEnergyTerminal in the Netherlands. This development follows a conditional charter agreement that includes both the extension of the existing
Eemshaven LNG FSRU and the new unit. The EemsEnergyTerminal is expected to make a conditional final investment decision in the first half of 2026. Exmar has secured a dual-fuel diesel electric membrane LNG carrier for the conversion and has started engineering activities, including ordering a regasification plant with a capacity of 750 million standard cubic feet per day. The project aims to support ongoing operations at the terminal, which will operate with two FSRUs owned and operated by Exmar. The combined setup is expected to provide around 190,000 cubic meters of LNG storage capacity and a total regasification capacity of 1,350 million standard cubic feet per day.
