What's Happening?
The International Access and Scaffolding Association (IASA) has been established to represent the scaffolding and access sector globally. Formed at the ScaffEx25 conference, IASA unites scaffolding associations from the UK, Japan, New Zealand, Malaysia, Australia, the US, and Canada. The association aims to align standards, promote best practices, improve safety and training, and tackle negative perceptions of the industry. IASA has set five priorities: enhancing the trade's image, developing global talent pipelines, driving innovation, strengthening compliance, and standardizing training to support workforce mobility.
Why It's Important?
The creation of IASA marks a significant milestone for the scaffolding industry, providing a unified platform to address common challenges and elevate standards worldwide. By aligning practices and promoting safety, IASA can improve the industry's reputation and attract new talent. The association's focus on innovation and compliance will help ensure that scaffolding remains a critical component of construction and infrastructure projects globally. This initiative highlights the importance of international collaboration in driving industry-wide improvements and fostering growth.
What's Next?
IASA plans to expand its membership by reaching out to scaffolding associations in additional countries, further strengthening its global presence. The association will continue to work on its shared priorities, aiming to enhance the industry's image and support workforce mobility. As IASA grows, it may explore new partnerships and initiatives to drive innovation and improve safety standards across the sector.
