Diraq, a quantum computing pioneer, and Equinix, Inc., a global digital infrastructure company, have announced plans to deploy a Diraq quantum computer at an Equinix data center in Sydney, Australia. This deployment marks the world's first silicon spin
quantum computer to operate within a shared commercial data center environment. The system, featuring an eight-qubit silicon chip, will be integrated into Equinix's existing data center infrastructure, including cryogenic cooling and control electronics, fitting within a standard rack and consuming less than 20kW of power. Installation is scheduled for completion in October 2026. This initiative aims to demonstrate how quantum computing can operate alongside existing cloud and AI systems, paving the way for practical, hybrid quantum-classical computing solutions.
