What's Happening?
Elbit Systems UK (ESUK) has successfully delivered 55 Ground Based Surveillance Radar (GBSR) systems to the UK's Royal Artillery. This delivery follows successful live-fire trials conducted earlier in
2025. The GBSR systems are part of a contract announced on May 23, 2023, and are specifically designed to meet the British Army's requirements for surveillance and fall of shot correction. The system features an optimized stabilization unit and open architecture software upgrades, allowing integration with existing and future Ministry of Defence systems. The GBSR uses digital signal processing to track and classify personnel, vehicles, helicopters, and unmanned aircraft systems (UASs) moving on or near the ground. Additionally, it provides mortar and artillery teams with fires adjustment capabilities by locating outgoing rounds.
