What's Happening?
On June 28, one of the eaglets of the well-known Big Bear bald eagles, Jackie and Shadow, experienced a fall from the nest. The eaglet, named Sandy, lost her footing while attempting to return to the nest and fell onto the branches below. The Friends
of Big Bear Valley, a preservation group monitoring the eagles, reported that Sandy is likely doing well despite the tumble. Jackie, the eaglet's mother, quickly returned to the scene and observed Sandy from a nearby branch. The group assured that Jackie and Shadow will continue to care for Sandy, ensuring she is fed and safe. The eaglets, which hatched in April, are now fully grown and capable of flight. The incident was captured on a live stream, which has garnered a significant international following.
