What's Happening?
Spain has deployed its Tactical Aviation Detachment (DAT) Paznic to Romania as part of NATO's enhanced Air Policing mission, eAP-72. The contingent, consisting of around 200 personnel from the Spanish Air and Space Force, will operate from Mihail Kogălniceanu
Air Base for four months. The mission includes seven F-18M aircraft, an A400M transport aircraft, and later, three NH-90 helicopters for counter-drone operations. This deployment aims to protect NATO airspace on the eastern flank and is a response to increased airspace violations by Russian UAVs.
