What's Happening?
The Arboricultural Association (AA) is participating in the 'Big Give Earth Raise' campaign to support its Championing Trees and Green Equity initiative. The campaign aims to raise £5,000, which will be doubled by the Big Give’s match fund, potentially
reaching £10,000. The funds will be used to train volunteers, support communities, and create national guidance to address urban tree imbalances in the UK. The initiative will also provide free guides and resources for volunteers, enhancing the reach and engagement of the AA's resources and guides. The campaign runs from April 22 to 29, with the goal of increasing awareness and progress toward green equity.
Why It's Important?
This fundraising effort is crucial for addressing the disparities in urban tree distribution, which can impact environmental quality and community well-being. By supporting volunteer training and community engagement, the campaign aims to enhance urban green spaces, contributing to environmental sustainability and public health. The initiative also seeks to empower local communities by providing resources and guidance, fostering a collaborative approach to urban forestry. Achieving the fundraising target will enable the AA to expand its activities and influence, promoting green equity across the UK.
What's Next?
The Arboricultural Association plans to track the distribution of resources to members and local authorities, document case studies, and report outcomes regularly. This will help measure the campaign's impact and progress toward achieving green equity. The AA will continue to engage with communities and stakeholders to promote urban tree planting and maintenance, ensuring long-term sustainability and environmental benefits.
