What's Happening?
The Archdiocese of Baltimore, in collaboration with the Baltimore Police Department, held its fourth annual gun buyback event in Southwest Baltimore, collecting 431 firearms. The event, part of a broader peacebuilding initiative, aimed to reduce the number
of unwanted firearms in circulation. Participants received between $100 and $300 for each firearm surrendered, which included stolen guns and semi- and fully automatic weapons. Since the inception of these events in 2023, a total of 1,487 firearms have been collected. The initiative also seeks to foster community relationships and promote respect for human life.
