What's Happening?
India's Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) is conducting flight tests for its new Swayam Raksha Kavach (SRK) airborne electronic warfare suite. This suite is intended for deployment in the
Indian Air Force's future fleet of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Tejas light combat aircraft Mk 1A. The development of the SRK suite began in 2021 and is currently being tested using an LCA Mk 1A aircraft. The SRK suite is an evolution of the older D-29 electronic warfare suite, which was developed over a decade ago for the MiG-29 fighter aircraft. The SRK suite includes a radar warning receiver integrated into the aircraft's body and a jammer pod installed on a hardpoint. DRDO plans to complete flight trials by mid-2026, with deployment expected by the end of 2026.
