Ralphie VII, a one-year-old American Bison weighing 700 pounds, was gifted by the Beauprez Family, who are University of Colorado alumni. The new mascot will continue the tradition of leading the football team onto the field, a practice that has been a part of the university's culture for 58 years. The Ralphie Live Mascot Program, which supports the care of Ralphie VII and previous mascots, relies heavily on donations.
