What's Happening?
A consortium led by Aecon Group is advancing a $3.2 billion gas-fired power plant project in Alberta, Canada. The Greenlight Electricity Centre will initially provide 932 MW of power, with plans to expand to 1,864 MW. This facility aims to support a major
data center development, driven by increasing demand from AI and digital infrastructure. The project, which includes partners like Pembina Pipeline Corp. and Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners, is expected to begin operations in 2030. Siemens Energy will supply key equipment, and the plant will incorporate carbon capture technology.
