WestJet has announced the introduction of a new direct flight route between Edmonton, Canada, and Reykjavik, Iceland, set to begin in the summer of 2026. This marks the airline's first non-stop service
connecting the Alberta capital with Iceland. The route will operate once a week during the summer season, expanding WestJet's transatlantic offerings from Western Canada. John Weatherill, WestJet's executive vice-president and chief commercial officer, stated that the new route aligns with the airline's strategy to strengthen international links from Edmonton. The flights will be operated using WestJet's 737 MAX aircraft, featuring upgraded cabins and complimentary in-flight Wi-Fi.
