What's Happening?
Leonardo is preparing its Boeing 757-based Excalibur airborne testbed to support the UK's Future Combat Air System (FCAS) and Global Combat Air Program (GCAP). The modified airliner, completed by 2Excel Aviation, will integrate prototype sensors and communications
systems over the next three years. These include the Multi-Function Radio Frequency System (MFRFS) radar, electronic warfare, and infrared search-and-track systems. The Excalibur will help mature these technologies and accelerate their integration onto future combat aircraft.
