What's Happening?
The Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC) has launched the Tourism Business Capability Subsidy Program, offering $300,000 in funding to support tourism businesses across Queensland. Eligible operators can access up to $2,000 each to invest in training
and accreditation, aimed at improving operational quality and building future confidence. The program, part of the Destination 2045 initiative, allows businesses to choose from a panel of approved providers for training in areas such as sustainability, leadership, and digital capability. This initiative is designed to strengthen business fundamentals, support workforce development, and enhance visitor experiences.
Why It's Important?
This funding initiative is a strategic investment in the tourism sector, crucial for maintaining Queensland's reputation as a leading global destination. By enhancing the capabilities of tourism businesses, the program aims to improve the quality of visitor experiences and ensure long-term resilience. This is particularly important as Queensland prepares for significant growth leading up to events like Brisbane 2032. The program supports businesses in adapting to changing market demands and maintaining competitiveness, which is essential for the state's economic stability and growth.
What's Next?
Tourism businesses in Queensland will begin utilizing the funding to enhance their capabilities, with a focus on areas that align with their operational priorities. The program is expected to deliver practical support, helping businesses to grow and remain competitive. As the initiative progresses, it will contribute to the broader goals of the Destination 2045 vision, supporting high-quality visitor experiences and strengthening the state's visitor economy.
