HD Hyundai Expands Shipbuilding Cooperation with Saudi Arabia, Enhancing Maritime Industry

Chung Kisun, Executive Vice Chairman of HD Hyundai, recently met with H.E. Khalid AlFalih, the Minister of Investment of Saudi Arabia, to discuss the development of a joint shipyard and engine plant in Saudi Arabia. This collaboration is part of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 project, which aims to strengthen the country's shipbuilding industry. The meeting also covered future naval ship projects and the establishment of a local supply chain. HD Hyundai is constructing the IMI Shipyard and Makeen engine manufacturing company within the King Salman International Complex for Maritime Industries in Al Jubail. The facilities are expected to be fully operational by 2026 and 2027, respectively, and will have the capacity to construct up to 40 vessels annually.
