Impulse Space, a commercial space company founded by Tom Mueller, announced its plans to develop a robotic moon lander aimed at advancing lunar exploration. Mueller, who was the first employee hired by Elon Musk at SpaceX, revealed the company's lunar vision
in a blog post. Impulse Space specializes in in-space transportation and has already launched a space tug named Mira. The company is also developing a 'kick stage' called Helios, designed to transport large payloads from low Earth orbit to higher-energy destinations. The moon lander, along with Helios, will be launched on a medium- or heavy-lift rocket, with Helios serving as a cruise stage to transport the lander to low lunar orbit. The lander will then descend to the moon's surface, capable of delivering up to 3 tons of payload. The first mission is projected for 2028.
