Amherst Regional Middle School (ARMS) has released the results of its September 7 air quality tests, showing an Air Quality Index (AQI) rating of 14, which falls within the 'Good' range. School Superintendent E. Xiomara Herman (Dr. Xi) communicated these
findings to the school community on September 15. District leaders, in collaboration with Vertex, T2, and CDW Consultants, an environmental and civil engineering firm, reviewed the report. The analysis indicates that a building-wide mold remediation is not necessary. Instead, the findings support focused investigation, cleaning, moisture control, and repairs in specific areas. Key areas identified for further attention include the Hall by Court 2, the Information Systems room, the Hall by Court 1, and the Monumental Stairs, due to elevated levels of certain molds or previous signs of moisture. The school will maintain its regular schedule while these recommended steps are implemented.
