What's Happening?
The Justice Department's National Fraud Enforcement Division has announced a series of significant fraud enforcement actions across the Southeastern United States. These actions are the result of federal-state partnerships with states including Alabama,
Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, and South Carolina. The enforcement actions involve 17 cases with over $350 million in intended losses, covering areas such as SNAP benefits, Small Business Administration loans, housing benefits, and tax fraud. The Division has also formed new federal-state anti-fraud task forces in North Carolina, Mississippi, and Florida to enhance ongoing efforts. These partnerships aim to strengthen fraud detection and accelerate enforcement efforts nationwide.
