An Australian woman, Jenitar Sau Na’amoana, has given birth to identical quadruplet girls at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in Queensland. This rare occurrence was described by doctors as incredibly rare, with the babies conceived naturally from
one fertilized egg that split into four. The probability of such a natural conception is estimated to be around 1 in 15 million. Na’amoana, who already had four children, was not planning to have more, making the pregnancy a surprise. The pregnancy was high-risk due to the shared placenta among the fetuses, which required close monitoring by a large medical team. The babies were delivered by cesarean section at 28 weeks and four days, and are currently doing well in the neonatal intensive care unit.
