Fincantieri, an Italian shipbuilding company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with KAYO, an Albanian firm specializing in strategic industrial infrastructure, to form a joint venture for constructing
and maintaining military vessels in Albania. The agreement was finalized during the Italy-Albania Intergovernmental Summit in Rome, attended by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama. The joint venture will serve as the prime contractor for shipbuilding projects in Albania's naval sector, with authorization to build vessels up to 80 meters long and 800 tons in displacement for international contracts. Fincantieri will provide technical expertise, workforce training, and engineering support, while KAYO will invest in modernizing the Pashaliman Shipyard in Vlorë.
