Ather Energy has introduced a new and useful feature called Infinite Cruise for its popular electric scooter, the Ather 450X. And the most interesting part is that the riders don’t need to visit a service
centre to get it. The feature is being added to scooters through an over-the-air (OTA) software update, just like how smartphones receive updates. This makes the scooter smarter without any mechanical changes.

Update
Ather confirmed that this new feature is now available for all Ather 450X units sold from January 1, 2025 onwards. This means more than 44,000 scooters will receive the function. The company has also included it as standard on the newest models. Owners will get a notification directly on their scooter’s dashboard whenever the update is ready to install. Currently, the Ather 450X starts at Rs 1,47,998 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru).
What is Infinite Cruise?
The Infinite Cruise feature was first shown on the Ather Apex 450 in August 2025. But unlike traditional cruise control systems used in cars for long highway rides, this feature is specially designed for city traffic where speeds change constantly.
Infinite Cruise can work at speeds between 10 kmph and 90 kmph, which makes it suitable for daily city commutes. Once activated, the scooter maintains the speed automatically. Even if the rider brakes or accelerates, the system stays active and adjusts to the new speed on its own. There’s no need to keep turning it on again. For new riders and daily commuters, this reduces the effort of constantly twisting the throttle, especially in stop-and-go traffic.
Multiple Smart Functions Working Together
What makes Infinite Cruise more advanced is that it combines several intelligent riding features like CityCruise which adjusts speed smoothly depending on surrounding traffic flow, Hill Control that helps maintain a steady speed when riding uphill or downhill by automatically adjusting power and regenerative braking and Crawl Control which is useful for slow riding on uneven or narrow roads. Works together with multi-mode traction control to offer better grip on wet or slippery surfaces.
Ather’s Approach
With this update, Ather shows how electric scooters can keep improving even after purchase. The Infinite Cruise system not only makes the 450X more practical in everyday situations but also highlights how EV technology is evolving beyond just battery range and speed.
