MINI has started taking bookings for the new Cooper Convertible in India, ahead of its launch scheduled for December 2025. The pre-book window opened on November 19, and you can reserve one either online
or through any MINI dealership. The brand hasn’t disclosed the token amount.
The new Cooper Convertible builds on the Cooper S hatchback but swaps the metal roof for an electric soft top that folds away in 18 seconds and works at up to 30kph. With the roof down, the car’s familiar three-door stance looks more relaxed, while the proportions remain identical to the hardtop.

MINI has stuck with its trademark cues: round LED headlamps, circular DRLs and an octagonal grille with a blanked section in the middle. The upper grille gets dark horizontal slats and the S badge, while the lower half carries wider air intakes. Along the sides, the Convertible sits on 17-inch dual-tone alloys and runs black cladding along the lower edge.
The rear, however, sets it apart from the hatch. Instead of the triangular lights seen on the hardtop, the Convertible uses oblong LED taillamps with Union Jack graphics. A dual-tone bumper and the familiar MINI emblem sit at the centre, with the Cooper S badge below it.
Inside, MINI continues its circular design theme. The cabin layout is simple, with a dashboard finished in sustainable materials and customisable panels. The highlight is the 9.4-inch OLED touchscreen running Android, which also serves as the instrument cluster. A head-up display is included, and the equipment list is expected to mirror the hardtop, powered front seats, Harman Kardon audio, ambient lighting, wireless charging and a rear-view camera.

Under the hood, the Convertible uses the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine as the Cooper S. It produces 204hp and 300 Nm, paired with a 7-speed DCT. It’s a shade slower than the hatch, taking 6.9 seconds for 0–100kph due to the extra bracing needed for an open-roof body. The Cooper S currently starts at Rs 43.7 lakh, and the Convertible is expected to land around Rs 50 lakh. More details and deliveries are expected to follow after the official launch next month.
