In the fast-growing compact SUV space, two names from the same family are once again in the spotlight - the updated Volkswagen Taigun Facelift and the Skoda Kushaq. While both share a common base, they offer slightly different personalities, making the choice interesting for new buyers.
Design
The Taigun facelift now looks sharper than before. The redesigned front and rear give it a clean and modern look. The LED light band and illuminated Volkswagen logo stand out, especially at night. The GT versions add sporty touches like red highlights and black elements, making it look more aggressive.
The Kushaq, on the other hand, sticks to a bold and solid design. It gets updated LED lights and connected taillamps with glowing “SKODA” lettering. It looks slightly more muscular and traditional compared to the Taigun’s cleaner style.Features
Volkswagen has added over 40 new features to the Taigun. It now gets a 10.1-inch touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a voice
assistant that responds to “Hello Volkswagen.” The 10.25-inch digital cockpit makes it easy for drivers to see all key information.
The Kushaq offers a similar setup with its own 10.1-inch infotainment system and 10.25-inch digital display. It also comes with a Google-powered AI assistant, which feels quite modern. So, in terms of features, both cars are almost at the same level.
Comfort
The Taigun improves comfort with features like ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a 6-way electric driver seat. Automatic climate control is now standard, which is helpful in hot weather.
The Kushaq goes a step ahead in some areas. It offers ventilated front seats and even a rear seat massage function in higher variants. It also comes with a standard sunroof across variants, with a panoramic option in top trims.
Safety
Both SUVs come with a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating, which is great news for families. They offer 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and multi-collision braking as standard.

Engine And Driving
Both SUVs share the same engine options. The 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine is good for city driving and gives a balance of power and fuel efficiency. The 1.5-litre engine is more powerful and better for highway driving.
The Taigun now gets an 8-speed automatic gearbox with the 1.0 engine, which makes driving smoother in traffic. The Kushaq offers similar options, including manual and DSG automatic gearboxes.
Space And Practicality
The Kushaq has a slight advantage in space. With a long wheelbase of 2,651 mm and a boot space of 385 litres (expandable), it is practical for families and long trips. The Taigun also offers good space, but the Kushaq feels a bit more roomy in the rear seats.
Variants And Choice
The Taigun is offered in trims like Comfortline, Highline, Topline, and GT, giving buyers many options. The Kushaq comes in Classic+, Signature, Sportline, Prestige, and Monte Carlo trims, also offering wide flexibility.
Pick the Taigun if you like a sharper design, slightly more modern feel, and a smoother automatic experience. Whereas, pick the Kushaq if you want a more solid look, extra comfort features like rear seat massage, and a bit more cabin space.
