We now know everything but the price of Volkswagen's new 7-seater SUV for India, called the Tayron R-Line. Brought in as a Completely Built-Up (CBU) import, the Tayron R-Line gets a lot of premium goodies, such as the 4Motion all-wheel drive, IQ.LIGHT LED lights, 15-inch infotainment screen and more. However, among its long list of features, we also get to see a launch control option that makes a 0-100 kmph sprint from standstill a lot more exciting. Watch how it works in the following clip.
As we just saw, the launch control of the Tayron R-Line delivers instant torque and helps the SUV achieve its claimed 0-100 kmph time of 7.3 seconds. To activate the Tayron R-Line's launch control function, the driver first needs to go to the car settings
and turn off the ESC (electronic stability control) and then change the SUV's driving mode to Sport. Then the driver needs to put the left foot on the brake and right foot on the accelerator and go full throttle, this activates the launch control programme and an alert on the driver information screen confirms the same.
While the Tayron R-Line is fundamentally a people mover, it gets Volkswagen's 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine that produces a respectable 201 hp and 320 Nm of torque. What further makes the 7-seater Volkswagen quick is its 7-speed dual-clutch DSG automatic gearbox that offers lightning-fast shifts and helps the SUV claim an under 10-second car spot. To know more in-depth information about the new Tayron R-Line, watch the following comprehensive review.
Volkswagen India is expected to announce the prices for the Tayron R-Line SUV in March 2026. It is expected to be priced between Rs 39 lakh and Rs 45 lakh ex-showroom bracket. This also pits it against existing segment leaders such as the Toyota Fortuner and new brewing competition from the newly revealed MG Majestor 4x4. Apart from the 4Motion all-wheel drive, the Tayron R-Line also makes its proposition more potent with high-end materials, tech and premium positioning. Fortunately for enthusiasts, the Tayron is not going to be a limited-run model like the Golf GTI, which sold out quickly last year.
