The 2025 BMW X3 has earned a full five-star rating in the latest Euro NCAP assessment, reinforcing its standing in the luxury-SUV segment. Tested in Europe using a 20 xDrive model with the M Sport Package,
the crossover achieved strong scores across Adult Occupant (88%), Child Occupant (84%), Safety Assist (80%) and Vulnerable Road Users (77%) categories. The five-star score covers the full spectrum of the fourth-generation X3 lineup — from its base four-cylinder petrol and diesel options to the more powerful six-cylinder diesel, the plug-in hybrid setup, and the flagship M50 performance variant.

2025 BMW X3: Key Performance In Crash Tests
Euro NCAP’s data show the BMW X3 performed well in several critical areas. In the Adult Occupant category, it scored 88%, with excellent protection in frontal offset and side barrier impacts. In the Child Occupant test, it achieved an 84% rating, reflecting solid safety systems and child-restraint compatibility. The Safety Assist score of 80% highlights robust driver-assistance technology, including autonomous braking and lane-keeping functions. For Vulnerable Road Users (pedestrians and cyclists), a 77% score underscores a strong, though not flawless, performance in collision-avoidance measures.
What The Test Revealed
The test results show the X3’s structure and restraint systems work effectively for adults and children alike. In side-pole impacts and full-width rigid-barrier tests, the vehicle maintained integrity and mitigated occupant excursion. However, in front-passenger chest compression and pedestrian-protection zones around the windscreen pillars, Euro NCAP rated some protection aspects as “marginal”. While still within the threshold for five stars, these are areas where the X3 fell just short of “excellent” ratings.
