The United States police uses Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato as police fleet in New Jersey, but for a very different and meaningful reason. The Garfield Police Department in New Jersey has added this striking supercar to its lineup as part of a community outreach and awareness initiative, not for chasing criminals or routine patrol duties.
The Lamborghini has been loaned by Lamborghini Paramus, a local dealership, meaning it has cost taxpayers nothing. Its purpose is simple but powerful: to grab attention and start conversations around substance abuse awareness and support.

The Huracán Sterrato is not a regular Lamborghini, but it is a special version of
the Huracán designed to handle rough roads and light off-road conditions. While most supercars are built only for smooth highways, the Sterrato stands taller, has rugged tyres, and uses an all-wheel-drive system, making it unique in the supercar world.
Visually, the car has been transformed to suit its new role. It wears a custom police-style livery similar to standard Garfield Police patrol vehicles. On the roof sits a blue police light bar, instantly making it look official and impossible to ignore. One of the most interesting additions is a large QR code placed on the car’s exterior. Anyone can scan this code using a smartphone, which takes them directly to The Center for Alcohol and Drug Resources.
This service offers 24/7 live assistance, including guidance, counselling, and referrals for people seeking help for substance-related issues. Despite the police look, the Lamborghini remains mechanically untouched. Under the hood is a naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 engine that produces a massive 601 horsepower and 560 Nm of torque.
This power allows the Sterrato to sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 3.4 seconds, with a top speed of 260 kmph. Features like increased ground clearance, off-road tyres, and a special version of Lamborghini Integrated Vehicle Dynamics help it perform confidently on uneven surfaces, including a dedicated rally mode.
The Garfield Police Department has made it clear that this Lamborghini will not be used for chases or enforcement duties. Instead, it will appear at community events, public spaces, and awareness programs, where its presence naturally draws crowds and curiosity. That curiosity then becomes an opportunity to spread an important message about prevention, education, and access to help.
