The new-generation Maruti Suzuki Dzire, which was launched in India in 2024, has once again proved its strong dominance on the sales chart by being the best-seller for May 2026. The sedan surpassed several popular SUVs, including the Nexon and Scorpio, and recorded sales of 24,546 units. Compared to 18,084 units sold in May 2025, the Dzire posted a considerable growth of 36% year-on-year. The consistent performance of the compact Maruti sedan shows its high demand among first-time car buyers, Indian families, and taxi operators.

The Dzire, which dominated the rankings with 24,546 units, was followed by its SUV sibling, the Fronx, which sold 20,686 units. The third spot was occupied by the Ertiga MPV, which sold 20,350 units. The Punch secured
fourth position with 20,208 units, while the Tata Nexon was the fifth best-selling car with 19,100 units.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire Key Specifications
The Dzire just seems to go with everyone looking for a comfortable ride, hassle-free ownership, as well as pleasant looks without stretching their budget. It has done away with the styling of the Swift and is now sharper and more premium. You get a large hexagonal grille with chrome slats at the front. Along the sides, the compact sedan preserves the classic three-box silhouette with simple lines and newly designed 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The rear features a redesigned boot portion and Y-shaped LED taillamps connected by a chrome strip.
The interior carries the modern look with a floating touchscreen infotainment system, rear AC vents, wireless smartphone connectivity, and automatic climate control. Maruti has also equipped the sedan with a single-pane sunroof (on higher variants). The safety net of the Maruti car includes a 360-degree camera, six airbags, and electronic stability control.

Mechanically, the Dzire uses a 1.2-litre Z-Series three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 82hp and 112Nm. Transmission options are a five-speed manual gearbox and a five-speed AMT. The sedan is also available with a factory-fitted CNG option.
The Dzire prices in India start at Rs 6.26 lakh, and it competes against the Honda Amaze, Hyundai Aura, and Tata Tigor.
