Buying a car in India just got a lot more affordable and the credit goes to the government’s new tax reform, GST 2.0, which made car prices across brands much more affordable, from budget-friendly hatchbacks
to premium luxury models, rates have dropped significantly.
The reform, effective from September 22, reduced the GST on small cars (up to 4 metres in length and engines under 1,200cc petrol/1,500cc diesel) from 28% to 18%. The result is that the price cuts range from a few thousand rupees to over Rs 10 lakh, depending on the model and brand.
