After months of teasers and spy shots, Toyota has finally taken the wraps off the all-new Land Cruiser FJ, a compact, rugged SUV designed to carry forward the Land Cruiser’s off-road heritage in a smaller,
more accessible package. The SUV is slated to go on sale by mid-2026 in select international markets.
The new FJ has classic Land Cruiser design cues with fresh elements. Toyota will offer two distinct front-end designs: one with round headlights for a retro appeal, and another with rectangular units and C-shaped LED DRLs for a more contemporary look. Both variants feature a simple grille with “Toyota” lettering and chunky plastic bumpers.

Along the sides, the FJ wears muscular fender flares, thick cladding, and a boxy silhouette that mirrors its larger sibling. The tailgate-mounted spare wheel, C-shaped taillights, and rugged rear bumper reinforce its off-road character. Interestingly, the corner bumpers at both ends are removable, making it easier and cheaper to replace damaged parts after trail runs. Toyota will also offer a range of accessories, including rock rails, raised air intakes, roof-mounted platforms, and MOLLE panels for mounting equipment inside the tailgate.
Measuring 4,575 mm in length, 1,855 mm in width, and 1,960 mm in height, with a 2,580 mm wheelbase, the Land Cruiser FJ is smaller than the LC 250 but larger than the Corolla Cross. Inside, the cabin takes inspiration from the full-size Land Cruiser, featuring a thick steering wheel, a digital instrument cluster, and a large infotainment display. Toyota has kept the layout practical with physical climate controls and a robust gear shifter.

Under the hood sits a 2.7-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine producing 161 hp and 246 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox and a part-time four-wheel drive system. The SUV is built on a reinforced version of Toyota’s IMV platform, shared with the Hilux and Fortuner.
While Toyota has confirmed markets like Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America for the new FJ, there’s no word yet on an India launch. Given its shared underpinnings with the Hilux and Fortuner, Toyota could bring it here eventually, but for now, the baby Land Cruiser remains a global-only offering.
