The Morgan Midsummer Coupe has been revealed globally as an extremely exclusive coachbuilt grand tourer, with a production run of only 9 units. It is co-developed by the Morgan Motor Company and the Italian design house, Pininfarina, and is a fixed-roof interpretation of the Midsummer roadster that made its debut in 2024. The car boasts handcrafted construction, modern engineering alongside extensive personalisation. Its creation comes from a request by a single client who wanted a closed-roof version of the original Midsummer concept. Every car will be individually tailored through a one-to-one commissioning process, and this makes each example unique.
Morgan Midsummer Coupe: Exterior
Morgan and Pininfarina have not just simply added a roof to the original roadster to make
this unique masterpiece. They created an entirely new silhouette with revised proportions for a more eye-catching appearance. The flowing roofline is created as a large glazed canopy that stretches across the cabin and blends into the sculpted rear section. The door height is raised, and a machined aluminium beltline also integrates the door handles. The side window treatment resembles that of classic Italian sports cars of the 1960s. You can see a reference to the original Midsummer concept, polished stainless-steel accents complementing the handcrafted aluminium body. Morgan has also developed a new set of 19-inch forged aluminium wheels, and customers can specify bespoke finishes as part of the personalisation programme. There's also a larger boot to accommodate luggage for long-distance touring.
Morgan Midsummer Coupe: Interior
The Coupe version keeps the airy feel of the original Midsummer but offers the comfort expected from a fixed-roof grand tourer. Key highlights include a glass roof, a newly developed aluminium gear selector with teak inlay, roof-mounted window switches, teak-finished sun visors, and an aluminium rail supporting the rear-view mirror. The teak wood features prominently across the dashboard, centre console, and other trim elements. Buyers will also have the option to choose alternative wood finishes for their individual cars. Morgan says every one of the nine cars will feature unique combinations of colours, leather upholstery, wood trims and bespoke detailing based on each owner's preferences.
Morgan Midsummer Coupe: Engine
The Midsummer Coupe is underpinned by Morgan's bonded aluminium CXV platform. It features billet-machined aluminium A-pillars, bonded structural glass, and a stressed-skin aluminium body that contributes to overall strength. According to Morgan, the fixed-roof design weighs only around 2.5% more than a Supersport with a hard-top. The ultra-exclusive car uses the familiar BMW-sourced B58 'O1' six-cylinder engine, the same unit used in the recently introduced Morgan Supersport 400. The company has not revealed detailed performance figures for the Midsummer Coupe.
Production will begin with the first customer commission after the prototype is completed. That prototype will later be displayed at the Louwman Collection museum in The Hague before the remaining nine bespoke customer cars are handcrafted at Morgan's Pickersleigh Road facility.
