Honda CBR650R, CB1000 Hornet SP India Recall: Reason, Affected Units And Fix

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has rolled out a voluntary recall campaign for two of its premium motorcycles in the Indian market, the CBR650R and the CB1000 Hornet SP, to address specific technical concerns identified after sale. Owners of affected bikes are being contacted directly by Honda via phone, SMS and email, and can also check eligibility using their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the company’s website. The recall covers separate issues on each model with inspections and corrective action offered free of cost at authorised BigWing and BigWing Topline dealerships, irrespective of warranty status.

Reason For Recall

For the Honda CBR650R, the recall stems from a potential

electrical fault in the turn signal assembly. In certain units produced between 16 December 2024 and 4 May 2025, a wiring component in the indicator system may rub against a metal part. Over time, vibration and friction could cause wear on insulation and lead to a short circuit, causing partial or complete failure of some lights and non-compliance with regulatory requirements.

In the case of the CB1000 Hornet SP, the issue relates to oil consumption. Select motorcycles manufactured from 30 September 2024 to 22 August 2025 have been found to exhibit variability in engine oil usage due to part-related conditions. If oil levels are not monitored and maintained, fluctuations in oil pressure could impact normal engine operation.

Affected Units

This recall covers specific production ranges for each model. Units of the CBR650R produced from December 16, 2024, through May 4, 2025, shall be under this inspection notice because of a possibility of wiring contact that may result in a short circuit. Units of the CB1000 Hornet SP manufactured between September 30, 2024, and August 22, 2025, are recalled due to a problem with excessive oil consumption. Motorcycle owners are encouraged to check their vehicle identification number (VIN) against the Honda recall database to find out if their unit comes under the latest recall.

Fix And Next Steps

Honda stated that all inspections and repairs related to this recall will be conducted free of charge at any authorised BigWing and BigWing Topline service centre. Technicians will check the wiring routing of turn signals on the CBR650R and replace parts or adjust as required. In the case of CB1000 Hornet SP, service teams will check oil consumption, and essential engine components and parts replacement service to rectify the problem. Owners are advised to make an advance booking.
