Honda has launched the 2026 NX500 with E-Clutch technology in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs 7.44 lakh. At this price, the middleweight adventure bike with an automatic clutch costs about over a lakh more than the the conventional version. While it gets the same design, including a muscular fuel tank, and a slim tail portion, Honda has revised the engine casing from the ride side to accommodate the additional E-Clutch actuator system and related components. The has resulted in a slight increase in weight as the motorcycle now tips the scales at 199 kg (kerb). For 2026, the bike will be offered in two new colours, including Mat Gunpowder Black Metallic and Pearl Horizon White. In India, the Honda NX500 competes against the BMW F 450 GS and the Kawasaki
Versys 650.
Honda's E-Clutch On NX500 Explained
The E-Clutch technology from Honda on its popular mid-sized ADV will make everyday riding easier without removing the involvement of a manual gearbox. It uses electronic actuators to automatically control clutch operation during starts, stops, and gear changes, enabling riders to shift gears without pulling the clutch lever. Moreover, the system prevents the bike from stalling in traffic or at low speeds. Compared to an entirely automatic setup, the rider still changes gears manually using the foot shifter, while the conventional clutch lever remains active and can be used anytime for complete manual control.
The incorporation of E-Clutch on the NX500 targets more effortless long-distance touring and daily commuting. By reducing the need for constant clutch operation in traffic and during frequent gear changes, the technology helps minimise rider fatigue, particular on crowded city roads or extended highways. At the same time, it retains the engaging feel of a conventional manual motorcycle, which offers an ideal balance between convenience and rider engagement.
