Renault's European sub-brand, Dacia, has pulled the wraps off a significantly updated 2025 Spring EV, the all-electric sibling to the Renault Kwid sold in India. The comprehensive overhaul focuses on performance and battery tech.
Spring EV Gets More Powerful Electric Motors For 2025
The most substantial changes are found under the skin. For 2025, the Spring EV receives a major power boost, ditching its previous 45 hp and 65 hp motors. It now offers two new, more potent electric motor options: a 70 hp variant and a top-tier 100 hp version. This upgrade promises to make the compact electric hatchback a much more capable performer.

Spring EV Moves To An LFP Battery, Promising Faster Charging Times
Renault has equipped the new Spring EV with a 24.3 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate
(LFP) battery pack. While slightly smaller than the previous 26.8 kWh lithium-ion unit, it impressively maintains a similar WLTP-certified range of 225 km. The move to LFP technology is strategic, offering superior thermal efficiency and a significantly longer service life, which are crucial factors for long-term EV ownership.
This new battery also brings faster charging capabilities. The DC fast charging speed has been increased by 10 kW, now maxing out at 40 kW. This translates to a real-world benefit for owners: a 20% to 80% charge can now be completed in a brisk 29 minutes. To enhance the driving experience, Renault has also fitted the 2025 model with anti-roll bars, an upgrade aimed at improving the vehicle's overall stability and handling.

Will The Spring EV Launch In India?
The big question, however, remains unanswered for the Indian market. While the Spring EV is a popular choice internationally, Renault has remained silent on an official India launch. Test mules have been spotted on Indian roads in the past, sparking hope. With these significant upgrades making the Spring EV a far more compelling package, the wait for an announcement from Renault India has become more anticipated than ever.
