Yamaha India made its much-anticipated entry into the electric scooter space with the new EC-06 on February 2, 2026. Priced at Rs 1.67 lakh ex-showroom, the Yamaha EC-06 steps into a highly demanding segment of premium family electric scooters. With rivals from new-generation EV startups gatekeeping the market, let's see how well the Yamaha EC-06 stacks up against the fairly new Ather Rizta Z, in this specification comparison.
Yamaha EC-06 vs Ather Rizta Z - Technical Specs
Yamaha has launched the EC-06 electric scooter with a 4 kWh battery pack that gives it a claimed range of 169 km on a full charge. The EC-06 has a top speed of 79 kmph and also gets three riding modes - Eco, Standard, Power, along with a Reverse Parking Mode.

Z, on the other hand, offers multiple battery pack options, with the largest being a 3.7 kWh option that returns a full range of 159 km (IDC certified). The Rizta Z also has a top speed of 80 kmph and three riding modes, along with a reverse parking mode.
While the Yamaha EC-06 offers 200mm disc brakes on the front and rear, the Rizta Z gets a combination of a front disc brake and a drum brake at the rear. However, the Rizta does get safety systems such as Skid Control, Fall Safe and Emergency Stop Signal (ESS).

The Yamaha EC-06 gets an LED headlamp and taillamp. It comes with a rider information LCD that gives real-time information on speed, range, battery SOC and more. It also offers several connected features via the Yamaha Motor Connected R mobile application.
In contrast, the Ather Rizta Z offers a hi-tech experience when it comes to features. It comes with a 7-inch TFT touchscreen that comes with built-in Google Maps. It also offers AutoHold function for a safe departure on an incline. It has anti-theft functions such as park safe and remote immobilizer and also supports voice commands for both rider and entertainment functions.

While Yamaha claims that the EC-06's 24.5-litre under-seat storage space is enough to carry a helmet or daily essentials, the Ather Rizta Z takes it up a notch with its 34-litre under-seat cargo space and additional 22-litre storage space on the front, giving it a total capacity of 56 litres in storage. It also gets specially designed compartment to suit different requirements throughout the day.

When it comes to price, the Yamaha EC-06 has been launched in a single variant that costs Rs 1,67,600 ex-showroom. The Rizta Z, on the other hand, has multiple variants which start from Rs 1.23 lakh ex-showroom and go up to Rs 1.58 lakh ex-showroom with the extended range.

This makes the Rizta almost identical to the EC-06 in terms of specifications and range on paper. It also benefits from more advanced features and better storage capacity, things that matter to buyers in this segment. However, the Yamaha EC-06 has the benefit of a legacy brand name and trust behind it. Although even the EC-06 has been co-developed with River, a new-age EV startup from Bengaluru.
