Turbo-petrol cars in India are becoming a go-to choice for many buyers, thanks to their punchy power delivery and thrilling acceleration. They are giving tough competition to models running on naturally aspirated petrol engines, as many automakers are opting for them. From facelifted bestsellers to all-new SUVs, here are some of the upcoming turbo-petrol cars in India that interested buyers can watch out for.
Maruti Suzuki Brezza Facelift
The Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift, which is slated to go on sale on July 23, is expected to get a major upgrade in the form of a turbo-petrol engine option. Although details are scarce on this matter, the compact SUV is likely to feature the automaker's 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine, found in the Fronx, which produces 99hp and
147.6Nm. Buyers can expect both 6-speed manual and automatic transmission choices. Maruti is also expected to give a few cosmetic and feature upgrades to the SUV, including a redesigned CNG tank layout. The prices for the SUV are likely to be priced above Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom).
Mahindra Scorpio-N Facelift
Mahindra is reportedly set to roll out a significant update to the Scorpio-N sometime soon. The facelift is expected to enhance the SUV's appeal with new styling and added features. That said, Mahindra is likely to keep the powertrain options unchanged, with the SUV continuing to offer the 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol engine alongside the diesel option. For buyers searching for a turbo 7-seater, the Mahindra SUV expected to remain one of the strongest choices. Prices could start at approximately Rs 14 lakh.
Volkswagen Virtus Facelift
One of the popular and best-selling sedans, the Virtus is heading for a mid-life cycle update. You can expect the new Virtus to get cosmetic revisions and added technology. However, under the bonnet, the Virtus is likely to retain its 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI turbo-petrol engines. However, reports suggest the smaller turbo engine could be paired with a new 8-speed automatic transmission. Prices are expected to begin at around Rs 12 lakh.
Skoda Slavia Facelift
The all-new Skoda Slavia is also expected to arrive by the end of this year. The sedan, as part of the update, will see improvements in styling, likely in the form of updated bumpers and new alloy wheels. Inside, Skoda could offer a larger digital instrument cluster and updated upholstery. In terms of engine, the sedan will most likely continue with the familiar 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre TSI turbo-petrol engines, making it an attractive option for buyers looking at 4-cylinder turbo petrol cars in India. The expected starting price is around Rs 11.80 lakh.
Mahindra Vision S
Mahindra is also working on the production version of the Vision S concept, and the car is being spotted several times undergoing road testing. The upcoming SUV is expected to feature a rugged design and an extensive feature list comprising a panoramic sunroof and a large touchscreen. It will ride on the brand's new NU_IQ platform. Although Mahindra has not confirmed anything, the Vision S is likely to come with a new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol unit, making it another noteworthy addition to the growing list of 1.2-litre turbo engine cars in India. Both manual and automatic gearbox options are also expected.
Skoda Kylaq Sportline
The Skoda Kylaq Sportline is a more performance-focused version of the existing model in India. Mechanically, it is said to have the same 1.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine. The car will reportedly hit the streets in September this year, featuring sportier cosmetic upgrades like blacked-out exterior accents. Prices for the sportier variant of the sub-4m SUV are likely to start around Rs 10 lakh.
