Mahindra’s Scorpio name has always been linked with toughness, road presence and go-anywhere ability, and with the Scorpio N, Mahindra took this legacy forward while adding better safety and comfort. But if you are a new car buyer, you might think- what exactly does the base variant offer and is it worth the money? Let’s have a look at Scorpio N Z2 Diesel’s specifications.
The Scorpio N Z2 Diesel (E) is priced at Rs 13.67 lakh (ex-showroom), which makes it the most affordable diesel version in the Scorpio N lineup.
Engine and Performance
The Z2 Diesel gets Mahindra’s proven 2.2-litre mHawk turbo-diesel engine which produces 130 bhp of power and 300 Nm of torque, and this means the SUV feels strong while driving, especially on highways or with a full
load of passengers. It comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive (RWD), which is ideal for carrying people and handling rough roads.
Safety
The Scorpio N Z2 can also be considered because of it's safety, as even this base variant comes with a 5-star Global NCAP safety rating for adult occupants, which is rare at this price point. Standard safety features include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts, rear parking sensors, seatbelt reminders and driver drowsiness detection.
Space, Comfort and Build
The Scorpio N Z2 is a 7-seater SUV, which makes it suitable for large families, as with its ladder-frame chassis (body-on-frame construction) gives it strength and durability, especially on rough roads. With a ground clearance of 187 mm, it can handle potholes, speed breakers and bad roads with ease.
In terms of size, the Scorpio N looks big and bold on the road. It measures 4662 mm in length, 1917 mm in width, and 1857 mm in height, giving it a strong road presence.
Features
The Z2 focuses on essentials and you get air conditioning with second-row AC vents, power windows (front and rear), central locking, tilt-adjustable steering, and a basic music system with four speakers. The wheels are steel wheels, not alloys, and the headlights are halogen units.
What’s Missing?
To keep the price low, Mahindra has skipped features like a touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, alloy wheels, automatic climate control and 4WD which is available only on higher variants.
The Mahindra Scorpio N Z2 Diesel is perfect for buyers who want a safe, spacious and rugged SUV without spending extra on luxury features. It delivers strong performance, excellent safety, and the classic Scorpio toughness.
