Bajaj Auto is expected to launch the Avenger Street 220 in India by the end of the month. The bike, which was discontinued in 2020 following the implementation of stricter BS6 emission norms in the country, will join the 220 Cruise in the Avenger lineup. It will replace the smaller Street 160 variant in Bajaj's Avenger series, as the bike is delisted from the official site. That said, Bajaj has not officially confirmed the discontinuation of the smaller, entry-level cruiser. The upcoming Avenger Street 220 will have the familiar platform of the 220 Cruise. In terms of price, the Avenger Street 220 is likely to ask less than of its chrome-heavy sibling, the 220 Cruise, which retails at Rs 1.29 lakh (ex-showroom). Here's everything you need to know
about expected features of Bajaj's upcoming Avenger.
Bajaj Avenger Street 220: Design
Compared to the Bajaj 220 Cruise, the all-new Avenger Street 220 looks more aggressive and bold. It features blacked-out components, including the engine, exhaust, and grab rail, and wheels. The bike's handlebar is lower, and comparatively more flatter, which makes it easier for riders to have a better control during heavy city traffic. Moreover, the low-slung seat makes the Street 220 an ideal option for short height riders. The bike will be offered in two colours, including Ebony Black and Cocktail Wine Red.
Bajaj Avenger Street 220: Engine and Hardware
The Bajaj Avenger Street 220 will have the same 220cc, oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine that churns out a maximum power of 19hp at 8,500rpm and a peak torque of 17.6Nm at 7,000rpm, and is paired with a 5-speed gearbox. The bike is expected to deliver a real-world mileage of about 35-40km/l. As for hardware, the upcoming Bajaj Avenger Street 220 will have a telescopic fork at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear. Stopping power will come from a front disc and rear drum setup, supported by single-channel ABS.
