Whenever traditional two-wheeler makers enter the electric segment, it always generates a lot of curiosity. This is because new EV adopters are more likely to place their trust in EVs made by legacy brands.
One such brand is Suzuki Motorcycles India, which has recently launched the all-electric version of its popular Access scooter. The e-Access has the right name, the right lineage but it also has a price tag of Rs 1.88 lakh ex-showroom (New Delhi). Here's what you get in this electric scooter for that amount.
The Suzuki e-Access highlights include its 4.1 kWh battery pack that gives the scooter an AIS 40 certified range of 95 km on a full charge. Suzuki further claims that the Lithium iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack has four-times longer life, better range consistency and better power delivery at low charge when compared to competitors. The scooter also comes with a maintenance-free belt drive system for long-term convenience.
The electric scooter has also undergone the same rigorous tests that Suzuki had performed on its large motorcycles, such as the Hayabusa supersport. These included water, shock and heat tests, also testing the LFP battery at extreme temperatures, submersion test and crushing tests. Overall, the e-Access drivetrain delivers 15 Nm of torque output and weighs 122 kg.
It is also being offered in four different colour options and features such as a tip-over sensor that alerts emergency services and a keyless start-stop function. It also offers mobile app-based connected features such as turn-by-turn navigation, a short distance indicator bar and a last parked location tracker.
Other highlights of the Suzuki e-Access include 160mm of ground clearance, disc brake on the front, drum brake at the rear, tubeless tyres and a 0-100 percent charge time of 2 hours 12 minutes with the fast charger or 6 hours 20 minutes with the standard charger. It also gets 7 years or 70,000 km warranty.

Considering its price tag of Rs 1.88 lakh ex-showroom, the Suzuki e-Access has been priced at a premium when compared to other popular electric scooters that offer a lot more tech and convenience features. On the other hand, the e-Access offers the Suzuki brand name and an extensive network of after-sales support across the country.
