Yamaha has introduced limited-run 70th anniversary editions of the R15 and the R3 in Brazil. While the standard versions of these bikes are available on our shores, the anniversary models are unlikely to make it here. Compared to the regular bikes, the R15 ABS and the R3 ABS Connected 70th anniversary models look more sporty and aggressive owing to the racing-inspired liveries. The R15 anniversary edition will have a production run of 1,200 units, whereas the R3 anniversary version will be restricted to 600 units. Let's take a closer look at some of the key specs of the Yamaha R15, R3 Anniversary Editions.
Yamaha R15, R3 Anniversary Editions: What's New?
Both limited-run Yamaha bikes stand out with their unique paint job. The white and red colour scheme is inspired by the Japanese automaker's
original factory racing colours, which it had on its early Grand Prix machines that racked up several wins, including the brand's first world championships in the 1960s. Note that this was before Yamaha transitioned to its existing blue identity in the late 1990s.
The special paint scheme in white, red, and black is accompanied by 'Speed Block' graphics on the fairings, a celebratory 70th anniversary logo, a gold Yamaha tuning fork emblem, and exclusively on the R3 - the gold-anodised front forks.
Yamaha R15, R3 Anniversary Editions: Engine
When it comes to the underpinnings, Yamaha hasn't tweaked anything. This means the bikes carry forward their existing engines. For instance, the R15 runs on a 155cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, and produces 18.5hp hp and 14.7Nm, mated to a six-speed gearbox. On the other hand, the R3 is powered by a 321cc twin-cylinder unit that puts out 40hp and 29Nm.
