VinFast has filed a design patent for the VinFast Viper electric scooter in India, hinting at its plans for the country’s fast-growing EV market. The development is significant because the Vietnamese manufacturer has so far focused mainly on electric cars and the Viper could mark its entry into India’s two-wheeler space. Although patent filings do not guarantee a launch, they often indicate that a company is evaluating products for future sale. The scooter has already been introduced in overseas markets and the newly surfaced documents provide a clearer idea of what Indian customers could expect if it eventually arrives here.

The VinFast Viper is positioned as an everyday electric scooter instead of a high-performance offering. Patent images
show a familiar layout with a flat floorboard, compact bodywork as well as a long single-piece seat. The overall design is functional and appears to be for riders looking for a practical city commuter.
The scooter also gets alloy wheels, a grab rail and simple side panels. Unlike some newer electric scooters that rely heavily on futuristic styling, the Viper sticks to a more conventional shape. That approach could work in its favour if VinFast decides to bring it to India, where practicality remains a major factor for buyers.
Battery And Range
VinFast has not shared any specifications for the Indian market. However, the Viper sold abroad uses a hub-mounted motor paired with a removable lithium-ion battery pack.
Depending on the version, the electric scooter is claimed to offer a range of roughly 100 km on a single charge under international testing cycles. The actual figure for India, if the scooter reaches showrooms, could be different because manufacturers often recalibrate battery packs and motors to suit local regulations and road conditions. Details such as charging time, power output along with top speed remain under wraps.
Expected Price
There is no official word on pricing or launch timelines. Since the Viper has only been patented, it is still too early to say when it could go on sale in India.
VinFast has already announced investments in the country and is preparing to enter the market with multiple electric vehicles.
