A new patent from Hero MotoCorp has taken over the market, creating buzz around the upcoming EV from the brand. Called the Vida NEX 2 trike, the patented design for this EV shows a three-wheel layout, self-balancing technology and an urban-focused design. For the unversed, the electric bike was first showcased as part of the Vida Novus platform at EICMA last year. Its production version as an unconventional three-wheeled electric scooter in India is not confirmed yet, but we anticipate it to take design inspiration from other offerings by the brand, and to eventually go on sale sometime in the future.
Hero Vida NEX 2 Trike Design
As seen in the patent images, the design of the EV looks similar to the concept that made its debut last year. The same aggressive and modern styling
is still there, and offers the NEX 2 a more premium appearance closer to a sporty motorcycle than a traditional three-wheeler. Some of the key design elements of the electric trike include a sharp LED headlamp, beefy front apron, and chiselled side body panels, a slender rear portion, and three-spoke alloy wheels and integrated grab rails.
Another prominent thing about the new Vida NEX 2 is its self-balancing technology. The concept that debuted at EICMA 2025 showed an advanced front suspension system that enables the EV to lean while cornering and maintain a riding experience similar to a conventional motorcycle despite having two front wheels. Though there is no confirmation as of now, but if Hero retains this tech for the production model, it could automatically keep the trike upright at low speeds or when stationary. As a result, this will eliminate the need for riders to put their feet down at traffic signals, making city commuting more convenient.
Hero Vida NEX 2 Trike Other Expected Features
Currently, Hero MotoCorp has not revealed technical specifications, but the electric trike is most likely to come with a high-torque electric motor, a floor-mounted lithium-ion battery pack, regenerative braking, connected vehicle technology, over-the-air software updates and fast-charging capability. However, details regarding battery capacity, riding range and performance remain under wraps. Hero has not shared any details on a launch timeline for the Vida NEX 2. If it eventually reaches production, the NEX 2 could introduce an entirely new category of personal electric mobility in the Indian market.
