With leaked visuals of the upcoming Mahindra Thar facelift going viral, we now have a fair idea of what changes and upgrades to expect from the 2025 Thar 3-door. From a redesigned exterior to an updated cabin, Mahindra appears to have taken customer feedback into account and made several updates to the Thar. Not everyone wants a large four-door 4x4 and the new updates are expected to make the 3-door version a lot more practical and attractive.

Among all its new updates, Mahindra has notably addressed both outdated and annoying aspects in the Thar 3-door. Here are five updates in the Thar that will now make it more convenient in comparison to the pre-facelift version.
1. Keyless Fuel Lid:
Based on the leaked visuals, we can confirm that the mechanical fuel lid of the Thar 3-door has now been updated with the electric and keyless fuel cap that we have seen earlier in the Thar Roxx 4-door. This makes refueling a lot more convenient than before, as the driver does not need to get down at the fuel pump to open the lid using the key.
2. Grab Handles:
A big drawback in the Thar 3-door was the absence of any A-pillar grab handles. This made getting inside the Thar a complicated affair for many people and the owner often ended up going in for an aftermarket solution. However, visuals of the facelifted Thar confirm that Mahindra has now added grab handles for the 3-door 4x4, making ingress a lot more convenient.
3. Front Armrest:
Another drawback of the Thar 3-door was the absence of any centre armrest. The facelift now gets a centre armrest with a bit of additional storage. This would make long rides more comfortable in the Thar 3-door, as the door panels do not offer ample arm support.
4. Electric Power Steering:
While it may strike up controversy from hardcore off-road enthusiasts, the facelifted Mahindra Thar is expected to come with an all-electric steering, replacing the hydraulic system that came before. While the enthusiast would argue that the electric steering offers less feedback, it would make the Thar a lot easier to handle in daily drives. The Facelift will also see an all-new steering wheel unit make its way into the off-roader.
5. Door-Mounted Power Window Switches:
Another small but practical update will be the shift of the power window switches from the centre console to the door panels. This increases the convenience of the driver and passenger, as finding the switches on the door panel is more intuitive than having them in between.
These small updates, combined with much larger upgrades that Mahindra will confirm soon, will make the Thar 3-door a much more practical option to have than before.
