Volkswagen Drops First Look At New Tayron SUV Ahead Of India Launch - Details

Volkswagen has officially shared the first teaser of its upcoming premium SUV for India, the Volkswagen Tayron, which marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the brand in the country. While

the company has not revealed the launch date yet, the short teaser video has already created a buzz in the Indian auto industry.

First Look

The teaser doesn’t show the full car yet, instead, it offers a stylish and mysterious glimpse of the Tayron’s design. Covered under a veil, the SUV’s silhouette hints at a bold and premium road presence and the most eye-catching elements are the front LED lighting signatures which includes the sleek daytime running lights (DRLs) and a full-width LED light bar, which stretches across the front. Volkswagen has even added an illuminated VW logo. At the rear, the Tayron mirrors its front design theme, as it gets connected LED taillamps and another illuminated VW logo.

Expected Design and Seating Options

While the teaser doesn’t reveal everything, the SUV’s design is expected to stay close to the international version of the Tayron, which already sells in other markets. Globally, the SUV comes in both 5-seater and 7-seater variants. Volkswagen hasn’t confirmed which version will come to India.

Interior details are still under wraps, but more features are expected to be revealed through future teasers, but we can expect a layered dashboard, premium materials, large screens, and advanced connected tech.

Engine and Performance Expected in India

The Tayron is likely to feature a 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine under the hood, the same one used in the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line abroad. This engine produces 204 hp and 320 Nm of torque, which makes it powerful enough for city driving as well as long highway runs. The engine is expected to be paired with a 7-speed DSG (dual-clutch automatic) gearbox. Volkswagen may also offer its 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system, which improves grip on difficult roads and gives the car more stability at high speeds.

How Will It Be Brought To India?

Volkswagen is expected to bring the Tayron to India as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) unit. This means the car will be assembled locally at VW’s Aurangabad plant in Maharashtra. This strategy usually helps keep prices competitive compared to fully imported models.
